David Arquette's birthday
David James Arquette is an American actor and former professional wrestler. He is known for his role as Dewey Riley in the Scream film franchise. He was born on September 8, 1971, in rural Virginia and grew up in a family of artists. His father was an actor; his mother, a poet, actress, and therapist; sisters, Rosanna and Patricia, who are both actresses; and Alexis, also an actress, who passed away in 2016. Arquette says that he loved art and would do graffiti when he was a young boy. He performed in school plays and eventually took drama classes.
Because of their father’s drinking problems, David and his siblings had a difficult upbringing. Like his father, David struggled with substance abuse and alcohol at a young age. Their parents later recognized their mistakes and turned over a new leaf. However, David struggled with alcohol and drugs when his mother passed away.
Arquette has a wide range of acting credits, including roles in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) and Airheads. He has also appeared in Scream (1996) and Never Been Kissed. Arquette is also a voice actor. He voiced the character of Mr. Jimmy on the TV show Pelswick and Eddie in the snowboarding video game, SSX Tricky.
Arquette’s big break in acting came when he appeared in Scream 2 and Scream 3. He won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Actor – Horror, and the Teen Choice Award, both for his performance in Scream.
Arquette is a man of many talents. Besides acting, he is also a producer, writer, and director. Together with his former wife, Friends star Courteney Cox, they produced the TV series Cougar Town and Celebrity Name Game. Arquette was also a director for several episodes of CSI Miami and Medium.
David is a longtime fan of professional wrestling. His stint with wrestling started with filming the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) movie Ready to Rumble. While promoting the film, David found himself in the ring.
Arquette’s WCW appearance was more for comic relief than a match. Vince Russo, WCW’s head booker at the time, listed him in a tag team against wrestlers Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarret. Arquette was named WCW champion and held the title for 12 days. He donated all his WCW earnings to professional wrestlers who had died in the profession.
Fans criticized Arquette’s WCW championship title, terming it a publicity stunt. Wrestling professionals saw Russo’s decision to list Arquette for the match as a bad business decision and may have led to the end of WCW. However, Russo admits that the title was a publicity stunt that paid off.
Arquette and Courteney Cox have a daughter named Coco. They met on the set of Scream and were married on June 12, 1999. Their daughter Coco was born in 2004, and Jennifer Aniston—also of Friends fame—is Coco’s godmother. Arquette and Cox split up in 2010 and divorced in 2012. After that, Arquette started dating Christina McLarty, a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. They were married in 2015 and have two children.
