Popular singer and actor Nick Jonas was born Nicholas Jerry Jonas on September 16th, 1992, in Dallas, Texas, as the third child out of four brothers. His two older brothers are Joe and Kevin Jonas, with whom he later formed the famous teen pop band the Jonas Brothers. The youngest Jonas, Frankie, would sometimes appear in shows and music videos alongside his siblings. Nick was raised in New Jersey, where he was homeschooled by his mother.

Nick Jonas began his professional career at the age of seven, when he was discovered by a show business manager at a hair salon. He performed in several Broadway shows during his childhood and, in 2003, he penned a Christmas song that would become his debut single. Nick’s singing and songwriting abilities caught the attention of record label Columbia Records. He released his first album, Nicholas Jonas, in 2004, for which he co-wrote songs and his brothers provided background vocals. The album wasn’t successful, but the head of the record label saw the potential for Nick and his brothers and decided to sign them up as a group, thus creating the Jonas Brothers.

The Jonas Brothers’ first studio album, It’s About Time, was released in 2006, but received little promotion and copies. Unhappy with this situation, the band decided to switch labels. In 2007, they signed with Hollywood Records, with whom they released their second and third albums (Jonas Brothers and A Little Bit Longer in 2008.) Both albums were commercial successes, with singles reaching top chartings. The band also made its acting debut in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, and later starred in Disney film Camp Rock (2008), which officially cemented them as teen pop idols.

After movies, TV shows and the release of their fourth album in 2009 (Lines, Vines and Trying Times), the band announced a hiatus to focus on their own individual projects. Nick decided to form the band “Nick Jonas & the Administration” and made his West End debut too. In 2010, he appeared in the movies Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and Mr. Sunshine, and had guest star roles and cameos on TV sitcoms. Nick also had a short run in the Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. That same year, the Jonas Brothers announced the recording of their fifth album, which was never fully released as the band broke up before its completion.

With the band officially broken up, Nick went to work on his second solo album, Nick Jonas (2014), while also working as creative director on Demi Lovato’s tour, as well as taking small TV roles. A third album was released in 2016, Last Year Was Complicated, which immediately turned into a commercial success. He continued to perform as a solo artist and collaborations, both in the musical and acting scenes, until 2019, which saw the Jonas Brothers getting back together and releasing Happiness Begins, its fifth album. In March 2021, he released his fourth solo album, Spaceman.
