How to Celebrate Community Week

Join a Celebrate Community Week Event

Working together to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals, neighborhoods and the planet is what Celebrate Community Week is all about! Sign up to volunteer at an event hosted by one of the sponsors.

From health and wellness programs like the Lions Club vision screenings or diabetes camps to tutoring programs and food banks sponsored by the Rotary Club, there are a myriad of ways to get involved in helping people in the community during this important event.

Host a Celebrate Community Event

People from every community and club are invited to get involved with serving in their local communities, particularly during Celebrate Community Week!

Club leaders and organizers can help plan events that go along with the theme of uniting people for a better tomorrow.

Youth groups, community centers, schools, non-profit organizations, churches and so many others can get connected and involved by organizing service projects that meet the specific needs of their community.

Sign Up to Volunteer

While Celebrate Community Week is a great launching point for gathering volunteers together to serve their neighborhoods and communities, the essence of the event is that people would come together not just for this week but all throughout the year!

One way to participate in this event might be to use it as a motivator to get more involved with volunteering and serving.

Make the world a better place by joining one of the services clubs that sponsors the event, or another volunteer organization that is doing good all year round.

Other days and event that take place throughout the year with a similar focus on serving the community include National Volunteer Week in April, Community Health Improvement Week in early June, and International Volunteer Day on December 5.

History of Celebrate Community Week

Originally started as Kiwanis One Day, the roots of this event can be traced back to 2007 when the leaders of the Kiwanis International organization announced a global day of service. The event was celebrated within the organization for several years.

Then, in 2022, this vision for this event grew larger. Not only did it expand from one day of volunteering and service to a full week, but it also expanded to include collaboration with a number of different service organizations throughout the world.

Today, Celebrate Community Week is observed not only by members of Kiwanis International, but also with Lions Club International, Optimist International and Rotary International.

Together, these clubs can make much more of an impact, with membership that reaches all over the globe and includes more than 3 million individuals combined.

Celebrate Community Week calls for members and volunteers to come together to reach into their community with projects that focus on health and well being, service to children, environmental care, education and literacy, food insecurity and hunger, and many other themes.
