In 1997, the National Job Shadow Coalition was formed to expand the program nationwide. The coalition included groups like America’s Promise Alliance and the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor.

By 1998, the event had become a national observance. That year, over 100,000 students participated, exploring different careers and learning from professionals in many fields.

Since then, Groundhog Job Shadow Day has grown significantly. By 2011, more than a million students and 100,000 businesses were involved annually.

The day provides young people with valuable insights into various professions, helping them understand the connection between their studies and future careers.
