History of Harley Quinn Month
Harley Quinn is the best-selling female character from DC Comics who dates back to 1992 when she appeared into the world in a Batman cartoon as a henchwoman for the Joker. Since that time, Harley has reappeared with many different manifestations but usually complete with her clown makeup and court jester-type costume in black and red.
As a murderous mental health professional, Dr. Harleen Quinzel is often known by comic book fans as the Clown Princess of Crime and is best friends with Poison Ivy. Harley’s slightly maniacal character has even been represented in films and cartoons by some fairly famous actresses, including Margot Robbie, Kaley Cuoco, Gillian Jacobs, Melissa Rauch and Arleen Sorkin.
In 2015, the owner of the character, DC Entertainment, established this as Harley Quinn Month. Since that time, Harley’s character has continued to grow in popularity, becoming one of the most well-known DC villains. So it stands to reason that she would have not just a day, but an entire month to be celebrated – even if it is the shortest month of the year!
