I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day
Standing tall, refusing to accept what's wrong, and pushing for what's right; it's about making things fair for everyone.
I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day is when we as human beings fight back against the injustices inflicted upon us, to show that we cannot be controlled nor contained — to show that we have our own lives and our own prerogatives!
How to Celebrate (or Revolt!) on I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day
Arrive late for work by putting yourself first, and spend some time buying yourself a present when you should be at your office or factory.
Stop Taking It
Don’t open any letters that look suspiciously like bills. And if you’ve always been cheerful and polite, but you’ve also never felt truly appreciated, then this is the day for the worm to turn. Be grumpy and non-communicative all day.
Speak Out
On this day you could also arrange mass protests. This might be customers complaining about bank charges at their bank, or people angry at their energy company for yet another huge price hike. I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day is also a perfect day for a strike!
Make a Soundtrack for the Day
If this name of this day sounds familiar, it’s probably from the 1980’s one-hit-wonder, heavy metal band Twisted Sister, called We’re Not Gonna Take It. This seems like just the right day to blast this song, and others with a simlar theme to sing along to.
History Of I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore Day
Civilians and labor workers have all had their fair share of wrongdoings made upon them, and most of them get to the point that they start a rebellion against their higher ups.
For Example, the Haitian Rebellion: On 22 August, 1791, the slaves of Saint Domingue rose in revolt and plunged the colony into civil war. The signal to begin the revolt was given by Dutty Boukman, a high priest of voodoo and leader of the Maroon slaves, during a religious ceremony at Bois Caïman, on the night of August 14th. Within the next ten days, slaves had taken control of the entire Northern Province in an unprecedented slave revolt. Whites kept control of only a few isolated, fortified camps.
The slaves sought revenge on their masters through “pillage, rape, torture, mutilation, and death”. Because the plantation owners had long feared a revolt like this, they were well armed and prepared to defend themselves. Nonetheless, within weeks, the number of slaves who joined the revolt reached approximately 100,000. Within the next two months, as the violence escalated, the slaves killed 4,000 whites and burned or destroyed 180 sugar plantations and hundreds of coffee and indigo plantations.
Now, back to modern times. We here in the modern era have had many protests throughout the years, and this day was founded to pay them some respect.
I’m Not Going to Take It Anymore Day was first celebrated in 2017 as a time dedicated to encouraging individuals and groups to stand up for their rights.
