With colors from pale peach to dark amber, orange wine is as stunning in the glass as it is bold on the tongue. Offering a unique feeling in the mouth and a wide spectrum of flavors, orange wine deserves to be celebrated – and that’s what National Orange Wine Day is all about!

History of National Orange Wine Day

While many people might believe that orange wine is a new and trendy part of modern culture, it’s actually a product that has been around for thousands of years! Made from white grapes but, unlike white wine, this version includes the skin in the fermentation process, which is how red wines are made.

Dating back to approximately 6000 BC, orange wine likely hails from the area that is now the country of Georgia, near the Black Sea – widely believed to have been the place where winemaking was born!

The unique flavor profile of orange wines is a bit more like white than red, but it offers stronger aromas and flavor notes.

National Orange Wine Day was first established in 2018 as a result of the passionate enthusiasm of the company, The Real House Wine. The event was started to promote awareness about this unique and sophisticated alcoholic beverage that has an ancient history but has come back around again.
