Pull out that favorite combination of stylish items, from pairing a short skirt with kicky little sneakers to following menswear trends like wearing a bow tie. Whatever makes a person feel great is exactly what they should wear on this day – and it’s a great time to share in the style victories of others as well.

Fashionistas can get to enjoy making a big deal out of their styling choices by celebrating National OOTD (Outfit-of-the-Day) Day!

History of National Outfit-of-the-Day Day

Created by a fashion guru, Stassi Schroeder, who stars on the Bravo network reality television show called “Vanderpump Rules”. The day was started in 2018 using the favorite hashtag of the influencer, #OOTD.

The day’s founder says that the purpose of the day has more than just something to do with fashion, though, because the day is about inspiring people to wear the clothes that make them feel great about themselves. She says that wearing an outfit that a person loves makes them feel much more confident and helps to build a “positive aura”.

In addition, dressing for success can have an impact on the way a person feels, even when a particular day isn’t the best one. Not only that, for those who are aspiring influencers on social media, dressing well and sharing a National Outfit-of-the-Day Day post on Instagram or other platforms is an excellent way to get branding sponsors.

How to Celebrate National Outfit-of-the-Day Day

National Outfit-of-the-Day Day is a light-hearted event that encourages people to share some incredible fashion choices. Get involved and celebrate with some of these ideas for the day:

Choose Amazing Outfits

National OOTD Day is celebrated in the warm weather, at least in the northern hemisphere, so it’s a great time to show off some of those amazing summertime outfits. Choose an incredible summer dress with strappy sandals and a straw handbag, or go with some linen pants paired with a stylish halter top and incredible accessories. Have some fun with the day and enjoy a fashion shoot where the photos can be posted on social media!

Engage in Sustainable Fashion

When talking fashion, it’s important to remember that clothing can take 40 years or more to decompose in a landfill. Have a blast with fashion choices on National OOTD Day and also live in a sustainable manner by shopping at thrift stores, vintage shops, or online websites that sell gently used fashion items. This can be an excellent way to save some cash in that savings account and also make a difference for the earth by not engaging with fast fashion.

Upcycle Some Fashions for National OOTD Day

Even better, make an impact by creating new fashions through up-cycling used items. Some simple sewing skills can turn a flannel shirt and an old pair of jeans into a trendy skirt. Or fashion some summer tops out of vintage embroidered tablecloths. The options for one-of-a-kind fashion items are almost endless when a person spends a little time getting creative – and saving the planet at the same time!
