A resilient and reliable form of energy, propane offers a wide range of benefits that can be used for both homes and businesses, as well as when traveling.

Though more expensive on the front end, propane burns more cleanly and efficiently than other types of natural gas. Get more informed, learn about some of the incredible features of propane, and share with others in celebration of National Propane Day!

History of National Propane Day

National Propane was founded fairly recently, in 2022, to increase public understanding and awareness about the facts around the use of propane as fuel.

The event was started through the efforts of the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) with the hope of not only informing the public about propane but also showing special accolades and recognition to those who work so hard in the propane industry.

How to Celebrate National Propane Day

Millions of Americans use propane in their everyday lives for hot water, home heating, cooking, and other sources of power in the home! Families, individuals, and businesses can check out some of these ideas for participating in National Propane Day:

Learn Important Facts About Propane

One excellent way to go about celebrating National Propane Day is to get more informed about what it is, its uses, and ways it impacts the world. Check out some of these interesting facts about propane to get going:

  • Propane is of one of the lightest hydrocarbons on the planet, making it easily portable and useful for camping, barbecue grills, and other on-the-go adventures
  • Though propane is a fossil fuel, it stands as one of the cleanest burnings of fossil fuels, emitting approximately 43% fewer greenhouse gases than an equivalent amount of grid electricity
  • Propane gas is non-toxic, colorless, and odorless (though a smell is added for safety purposes)
  • Though used as a gas, propane is stored in its condensed form as liquid because it is 270 times more compact that way

Thank the Propane Suppliers

Since this event falls in the early autumn, it’s likely a time that people are calling to schedule their propane tanks to be refilled for homes or businesses.

In celebration of the day, be sure to wish those propane suppliers a Happy National Propane Day!

Consider Ways to Use Propane

Folks who are interested in celebrating National Propane Day by making a switch to some propane-fueled products can do some research and then possibly make some purchases like these:

  • Gas BBQ Grill. Get those pork chops and sausages grilled up nice and tasty with the convenience of a propane gas grill
  • Propane Camp Stove. Camping gear that includes propane for cooking is lightweight and super easy to use
  • Gas Fireplace. Those who don’t have a natural gas source in their home but want to add a fireplace as a heat source might choose propane
  • Other Propane Appliances. Those who live off-grid or want a backup in case of electricity shortages can rest easy with propane refrigerators, freezers, stoves, water heaters, furnaces, and much more!
